During World War II Captain A.I. Rader Canadian Dental Corps, poses proudly in his uniform for a family photo with his parents. But Pride in his service is complicated for AI by the stresses the war has placed on his Father. Mr. Rader Senior has lived in Canada since 1903 and all his children are Canadian Citizens, however he himself was born in Italy & is now considered an enemy alien. For 18 months he was detained by Canadian Authorities awaiting a judicial tribunal to review his case & rule he is NO security risk. Despite this treatment of their Father, all three of his sons answered Canada’s call-

One son joins the  Canadian Dental Corps. Another joins the Royal Canadian Navy & the third contributed his electrical engineering talent to the ultra- secret Allied ‘Manhattan Project’… the project to build an atomic bomb.   For families like Rader, being Patriotic Canadians is certainly no easy road.  After the War AI Rader set up practice in Vancouver & was a member of the staff at St Paul’s Hospital. Among his free time activities was to volunteer his athletic coaching skills to handicapped athletes entering the Special Olympics.
