Tartan Shorts worn under the kilt on leave in 1917. The Donor, Percy Wilson told the Curator, Colin Stevens that these were worn on leave in London as girl double-decker bus conductors would tell the kilt wearing soldiers "Top of the bus mate!" and then watch as they climbed the stairs.
687641 Private Lorne Percy Wilson of the 72nd Batalion, CEF arrived in France on 11 May, 1917 and became severely sick on 27 September, 1917.
