SEAFORTHS RETURN TO CANADA, 1945
LE RETOUR DES SEAFORTHS AU CANADA, 1945
Seaforth Homecoming Parade in Vancouver, 7 October, 1945
Seaforth Homecoming Parade showing the march in downtown Vancouver, 7 October, 1945. When the victorious Seaforths returned home to Vancouver, over 200,000 people turned out to welcome them home, lining the streets from the train station to the Armoury on Burrard Street.
There is a notation in the 1985-1987 register which says "see photo album, Johnny Cromb / Newsletter May 1985, page 6". Newsletter attached to Media.
It states: "We received a letter from Ted Palmer (ex-.RCAF), who lives in Charlottetown, PEI . Some forty years ago he was standing on the roof of a building across from the Hotel Vancouver when the Seaforths marched down Burrard Street on the Regiment 's return from overseas . He had a camera with him and took half a dozen snaps of the various units of the Regiment as they marched by. Although the snaps are rather small, your executive intends to give them a respected place in our museum , and our thanks go out to Ted Palmer, ex-RCAF for his thoughtfulness after so many years".
