Lectern made by Ernie Tufts
Lectern made by Ernie Tufts in 1983. There is a signing pen mounted in the wooden lectern. There is a plaque which states: 2946 RCACC of Pine Point, NWT. [It s unknown why the cadet corps plaque is there]. There is a Book of Signatures (14 October 1972 to ...) with it. At one time it was in the Medals Sanctuary.
The 2946 Royal Canadian (Branch 279) Legion Cadet Corps was located in Pine Point, NT. It was formed on 1 September, 1976 and was disbanded on 14 December, 1988. It was affiliated with Northern Region Headquarters and supported by CFB Edmonton. In February 1981 it changed affiliation to the Military Police at CFB Edmonton. Pine Point was the townsite built at the Pine Point Mine in the Northwest Territories, Canada, which was an open-pit lead and zinc mine. Reaching a peak population of about 2,000 in 1976, it was abandoned and deconstructed soon after the mine closed in 1988.
