Chilly, Somme looking east. On 10-12 August, 1918, the 72nd Battalion attacked and captured the villages of Maucourt and Chilly which are side by side. The photo shows the road, destroyed fields and a truck in the background. It was probably taken from outside Maucourt. Photo from album which possibly belonged to Lt Reginald Vigars Prenter (RVP), 72nd Bn.
