Lt Prenter, 72nd Bn Album - Destroyed exterior door of Arras Cathedral
Exterior door of Arras Cathedral. The photo shows a church in ruins.
Arras Cathedral [Cathedral of Our Lady and Saint Vaast / Cathédrale Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Vaast] was destroyed by shelling in April 1917, during the run-up to the Nivelle offensives of World War I and subsequently rebuilt in its previous form.
Photo from album which possibly belonged to Lt Reginald Vigars Prenter (RVP), 72nd Bn.
