Postcard - "The Deed" (The murder) The Devil's Punch Bowl is a large natural amphitheatre and beauty spot near Hindhead, Surrey, in England, and is the source of many stories about the area. One story is regarding "The Unknown Sailor" who was an anonymous seafarer murdered in September 1786 at Hindhead. His murderers were hanged in chains on Gibbet Hill, Hindhead the following year.
