Kilt Apron - 6 Plt, B Coy, 231st Bn
Kilt Apron - 6 Platoon, B Company, 231st Battalion, CEF Vancouver, BC Lt McKenzie commanding. Lt Colin Rae McKenzie (also spelt MacKenzie) was later transferred to the 72nd Battalion on 15 July 1917. He got sick on 22 January 1918. Before the War, he had served in the British Columbia Horse for four years.
Kilt Aprons (covers) were worn by Highland regiments on active service. Not only did the apron protect the kilt but it also made the kilt less conspicuous in the field. It is a brown canvas apron with tape tie in a seam at the top, a single button flap pocket in the centre (acting as a sporran).
