Lt Col Blair in a sedan chair during his parade, 1929

Parade for Lieutenant Colonel Robert Mills Blair, Commanding Officer, Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, upon winning the King's Prize at Bisley, England for being the top rifleman in the British Empire, 25 August, 1929. Lt Col Blair is dressed in tartan breeches, leather boots, SD jacket with medals and glengarry carrying his rifle. He is on a chair being carried by Seaforth NCOs and men. From the Regimental History, page 30: "Lt-Col. R. M. Blair made history at Bisley by being the first man in seventy years to win both the King's Prize and the Grand Aggregate. The regiment, the city, indeed all Canadians were tremendously proud of his accomplishment and on his return in August he was given a huge welcome. Later that day a civic banquet was given in his honour followed by a dance given by the regiment. Special permission was given for the free issue to the Seaforth Officers' Mess of the rifle with which he won the Bisley match, and the new rifle range was named in his honour the following year. It was a glorious welcome home for a greatly admired officer." This picture is from a series of photos showing the parade in his honour on his return to Vancouver. This one is different from the other "sedan chair" shots in that a building is visible in the background.
