Cap Badge - 169th (Toronto) Battalion, CEF
The 169th (109th Regiment) Battalion, CEF was a unit in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. Based in Toronto, Ontario, the unit began recruiting during the winter of 1915/16 in that city. After sailing to England in October 1916, the battalion was absorbed into the 5th Reserve Battalion on January 24, 1917.
The 109th Canadian Militia Regiment was raised on 14 September, 1914 and was disbanded on 1 May 1920. It was not directly connected to the CEF and served to train part-time soldiers who may or may not have joined the CEF at some later date. (Badge attached)
