Cap Badge - 213th (Toronto Americans) Battalion, CEF

Cap Badge - 213th (Toronto Americans) Battalion, CEF The 213th (Americn Legion) Battalion, CEF was a unit in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War I. Raised in St Catherines but based in Toronto, Ontario, the unit began recruiting in early 1916 throughout Military Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. After sailing to England in January 1917, the battalion was absorbed into the 4th Reserve Battalion. It was one of several battalions that had American citizens as soldiers. The USA was not yet at war and these young Americans wanted to join the battle overseas so they headed to Canada.
