Cap Badge - The Hampshire Regiment

Cap Badge - The Hampshire Regiment This badge depicts the Hampshire Rose with a Royal Tiger on a scroll above it. Both are enclosed by a crown and laurel wreath on the lower part of which is a scroll inscribed 'Royal Hampshire'. The officers' badge of the Royal Hampshire Regiment was different. It consisted of an eight-pointed star on the centre of which was the Garter with accompanying motto surrounding the Hampshire Rose. This was surmounted by a crown. The Hampshire Regiment was a line infantry regiment of the British Army. The regiment was formed in 1881 by the amalgamation of the 37th (North Hampshire) Regiment of Foot and the 67th (South Hampshire) Regiment of Foot.[2][4] The regiment existed from 1881 until 1992, and served in many small conflicts and both World War I and World War II. In 1946, due to distinguished service in the Second World War, the regiment became retitled as the Royal Hampshire Regiment. In 1992 the regiment was amalgamated with the Queen's Royal Regiment to form the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment.
