Badge - The South Stafford Regiment

Badge - The South Stafford Regiment. KIng's crown and knot of Staffordshire insignia. It is not certain if the artifact is a shoulder title or cap badge. The shoulder title and the cap badge are shown in attached photos. The cap badge is displayed on the British Badges board. There is no record of the shoulder title. The South Staffordshire Regiment was an infantry regiment of the British Army, which was formed in 1881 by the amalgamation of the 38th (1st Staffordshire) Regiment of Foot and the 80th (Staffordshire Volunteers) Regiment of Foot. In 1959, the regiment was amalgamated with the North Staffordshire Regiment to form the Staffordshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's) which, in 2007 was amalgamated with the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment and the Cheshire Regiment to form the Mercian Regiment, which continues the lineage of the South Staffords.
