Cap Badge - West Somerset Yeomanry

Cap Badge - West Somersetshire Yeomanry (Hussars) This badge was sold by Jim Purdy for $25.00 on e-Bay in the Spring/Summer of 2017. This badge was deemed irrelevant to the museum. The money was used to purchase relevant badges for the collection. Badge: An oval circlet bearing WEST SOMERSET YEOMANRY, within the voided centre of which a wyvern rampant is located. On a scroll underneath "S. AFRICA 1900-01". The West Somerset Yeomanry was a Yeomanry regiment of the British Army. First raised in 1794, it participated in the Second Boer War and World War I before being converted to an artillery regiment. It served in World War II (as two field artillery regiments). Post-war it was gradually reduced in strength until the yeomanry lineage of the successor unit was discontinued on 9 November 1988.
