Cap Badge - 36th Division, Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF)

Cap Badge - 36th Division, Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) - The Red Hand of Ulster. On the British Badge Board it is incorrectly labelled "Ulster Rifles". This badge was sold by Jim Purdy for $200.00 on e-Bay in the Spring/Summer of 2017. This badge was deemed irrelevant to the museum. The money was used to purchase relevant badges for the collection. WW I 36th Division, Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) Cap Badge. A rare original die-cast bronzed large oval cap badge with raised rim surround and bearing the Hand of Ulster, the reverse with maker's details "Sharman. D. Niell Ltd Belfast". The 36th (Ulster) Division was a division of Lord Kitchener's New Army formed in September 1914. Originally called the Ulster Division, it was made up of members of the Ulster Volunteer Force, who formed thirteen additional battalions for three existing regiments: the Royal Irish Fusiliers, the Royal Irish Rifles and the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. The division served on the Western Front as a formation of the British Army during World War I. The division's insignia was the Red Hand of Ulster.
