The 1998 Photo Register states: "Lt Col Kirkpatrick", location unknown. Possibly a photo when he was in the 72nd Regiment, Seaforth Highlanders of Canada before World War I or in the 11th Canadian Mounted Rifles or the 72nd Battalion, CEF during World War I. Captain Guy H. Kirkpatrick was born in Kingston, Ontario, in 1875. A graduate of the Royal Military College, he served in the South African War in 1899-1902. He was one of the original officers in the 72nd Regiment and served with the 72nd Battalion, CEF overseas, becoming that battalion's Commanding Officer in 1918, and its first CO. in the post-war period.
