Private W.A. McArthur, 231st Battalion CEF. The photo was taken on 12 January, 1916 in VAncouver. The Battalion did not arrive in England until April 1917. 1015919 (not 1015109) Private William Anderson McArthur arrived in France with the 72nd Battalion on 8 August, 1917 and died of wounds on 26 August, 1917. He originally enlisted with B Company 231st Battalion, CEF on 15 November, 1915. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland and lived in Vancouver at the time of his enlistment. McArthur arrived at the 72nd Battalion in France on 8 August 1917. He died of wounds (disease), 18 days later on 26 August 1917. His service file states that he died of pneumonia.
