FORMATION AU ROYAUME-UNI, 1939-1943

Cdn servicemen in an audience with Queen Elizabeth, Edinburgh, Feb. 1940

Ed Esson (in kilt) on far left of Group of eight Other Ranks from all of the three services, including the Pipe Major [Jimmy Carter] of the Toronto Scottish (third from left) in an audience with Queen Elizabeth (later The Queen Mother) at the Victoria League Club in Edinburgh in February 1940. Photo by The Scotsman & Evening Dispatch newspapers. The Edinburgh Evening News is a local newspaper based in Edinburgh, Scotland, that was founded by John Wilson (1844–1909) and first published in 1873.[1] It is printed daily, except on Sundays. It is owned by Johnston Press, which also owns The Scotsman. Much of the content of the Evening News concerns local issues such as transport, health, the local council and crime in Edinburgh and the Lothians. The paper has a significant number of journalists covering sport, with a dedicated reporter assigned to each of the city's football teams, Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian.
