NORTHWEST EUROPE , MARCH 1945-OCT 1945

EUROPE DU NORD-OUEST, MARS 1945-OCTOBRE 1945

Seaforth Officers - Cuxhaven, Germany 1945

Seaforth Officers - Cuxhaven, Germany 1945 for the gathering of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada and the 2nd, 5th, 6th and 7th Battalions of the (Imperial) Seaforth Highlanders at Cuxhaven, Germany 1945. A little over one hundred of the Canadian Seaforths were able to make the trip for the three days of sports and festivities. The spectacle of the 100-strong massed Seaforths Pipes and Drums alone was worth the trip. Cuxhaven is in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the shore of the North Sea at the mouth of the Elbe River. It was frequently bombed in World War II and was captured by the Allies in May 1945. During the War, the Germans tested rockets there.
