Olive Drab Bush Jacket, 1950/60s
Olive Drab Bush "Parade" Jacket, 1950/60s
This bush dress shirt has standard WW II ribbons (1939-45, Italy and France & Germany Stars with the Canadian Volunteer Service, Defence and War Medals. The SEAFDORTH CANADA flash is sewn onto the upper sleeves.
From 1946 until 1967, the Canadian Army wore for summer dress, the green denim uniform called Bush Dress. Bush Dress replaced the Khaki Drill uniform but Bush Dress had several significant differences. It had a closed collar which was almost always worn open. It could be worn with a shirt and tie when used as a parade uniform. It had a 5 button front closure. A cloth waist belt was also worn with this uniform in the absence of other types of belts (i.e. if for a parade belt with bayonet and frog was worn or webbing equipment, the cloth belt would not be worn). It had two breast pockets, box pleated, with scalloped flaps secured by buttons and two flapped bellows-type hip pockets. The vented cuffs were secured by a visible button. There was no Scottish/Highland Pattern as these jackets were intended to be worn with denim bush trousers and not with the kilt or trews.
