231st BATTALION CEF (2nd RESERVE BATTALION)

231e BATAILLON CEF (2e BATAILLON DE RÉSERVE)

Seaforth officers in field with two non-Seaforth officers

Group of Seaforth officers in the field with two non-Seaforth officers. They are most likely officers from the 231st Battalion before their departure to Europe because the photo was taken by Victoria photographers. The other officers are possibly from the 143rd (BC Bantams) Battalion which trained extensively with the 231st in Sidney and Vancouver. Picture in a cardboard folder from a studio. It came with Christmas card (2001.002.011) from 1015195 Pte. T. Howatson, Signals Platoon 72nd Batalion, CEF. 1015195 Pte Thomas Howatson who was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He arrived in France from the 231st Battalion on 23 May, 1917. He was wounded on 28 June, 1917 and rejoined the Battalion on 2 February, 1918. CEF service file attached.
