Second World War Overcoat - Captain Donald Stuart Harley

Second World War Overcoat - Captain Donald Stuart Harley. Tailor's label reads "John C. Doig Civil and Military Tailor, Vancouver, B.C." Lieut D.S. Harley 9.10.40 on label. The coat is double breasted, made of khaki wool. Division patches are missing, but red stitching remains. Seaforth L cipher buttons. Canada brass shoulder titles and three metal pips on each epaulette. Khaki Greatcoat with name label at back of neck "DS Harley" with Lt rank, Seaforth buttons and unknown shoulder titles. Captain Harley served in the Seaforths from 26 June 1942 to 26 December, 1943. He was the Mortar Platoon commander when he was wounded in Sicily on 5 August 1943 by a mule that kicked him in the head. Due to the severity of the Sicilian terrain, the platoon had to ditch their carrier to use mules. At Ortona he was the 2 i/c of "D" Company and he was wounded on Boxing Day 1943. He did not return to the battalion during the war. IN THE PHOTOS TAKEN IN 2011, THE LABEL "30" WAS GIVEN. I BELIEVE THIS GREATCOAT IS PART OF THE DONATION ON BEHALF OF CAPTAIN DON HARLEY, MC, SH OF C.
