MGen Hoffmeister signing retirement papers, Little Mtn Bks, Vancouver, 1946

General Officer Commanding Officer's Retirement (Vancouver). Captain R.W.J. Grimstead watching Major General B.M. Hoffmeister signing his retirement papers at Little Mountain Barracks, Vancouver, BC in September 1945. Little Mountain, elevation 127m, is a mountain in the central part of the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is best known as the location of Queen Elizabeth Park and Nat Bailey Stadium, but as a name is also used for the surrounding neighbourhood. Little Mountain is a volcanic formation which was at one time mined for its granitic basalts. The old quarry on the mountain is now a public garden, Queen Elizabeth Park, which also features the Bloedel Floral Conservatory. The RCMP's Fairmont Barracks is in this area.
