Canadian WW I soldier walking down the street flanked by a woman on each side

Canadian WW I soldier walking down the street flanked by a woman on each side. There is a crowd behind them. From the Canada Victory Souvenir p. 38 "Two of the brave Frenchwomen released by the Canadians after their village had been four years in German hands." Canada Victory Souvenir. London: Canada Newspaper Co., 1919. Photography was a pervasive and effective medium publicizing the Canadian military effort during the First World War. This book is a pictorial tribute to the Canadian Corps and to its achievements on the battlefields of France and Belgium. Most of the photographs reproduced in the text were taken by the Canadian Official Photographer.
