FORMATION AU ROYAUME-UNI, 1939-1943
King George VI talking with Lt Col Stevenson, England
King George VI talking with Lieutenant Colonel J. B. Stevenson, SHC. Officer on left may be Captain Dick Danby. It looks like Davy Fairweather but he was not an officer at that time.

From the regimental history, page 75:
"Late in January, 1940 when R.S.M. Maitland began to hold a series of smartening-up drill parades in anticipation of a visit from His Majesty King George VI, the battalion at least looked like a Highland unit. On 24 January the entire brigade lined up in threes along a section of the Cove- Fleet highway awaiting His Majesty, and shortly after mid-day he arrived. It was a far different display from the glittering guard of honour the regiment provided in Vancouver
almost a year previously, but the battalion was as smart in its new battledress and balmorals as it was possible to be. Periodically His Majesty stopped to speak to some of the Seaforths as he walked by with his staff. He remembered the unit from his visit to Vancouver, and his remarks to Lt-Col. Stevenson at the end of his inspection were complimentary."
Lt.Col. J.B. Stevenson, ED served in the WW II Seaforths from 2 September 1939 to 26 November 1940. He was promoted to Brigadier and later commanded the Pacific Command.
Lt. E.D. Danby,DSO, MiD, served in the WW II Seaforths from 2 September 1939 to 19 July 1940. He latrer went on to commande the Carleton and York Regiment.
