Arid CADPAT Shirt - Capt Greene

Shirt, Cadpat, Arid: NSN 8415-21-921-7272, Size 7344. Part of the uniform and kit of Captain Trevor Greene 965, Seaforth Highlanders of Canada who was attacked by Al Qaeda / Taliban and hit on head with a hatchet during a sit-down meeting ("shura") in the Shinkay District of Zabul Province, Afghanistan. [The Afghan was killed immediately by the Canadians in his platoon]. He is the first Seaforth war casualty since WW II. This kit was returned with him when he was evacuated. His Afghan combat gear was written off in battle zone. His wife did not want it. Some other items issued to Capt. Greene in Canada were returned to the DND system in early 2009. Items 2009.003.001 through 2009.003.019 were received in his footlocker (2009.003.020). The attached photo is from the website of Colin Stevens and it shows the shirt and most of Captain Greene's uniform and gear. This photo was taken in the old museum at the Seaforth Armoury. From his website: "Uniform and kit of Captain Trevor Greene, worn/used in Afghanistan. It includes some items he was wearing or using that day when he was hit on the head with an axe by a terrorist. I collecting history as it happened. Some items were missing and I obtained other items from other veterans of that war. It is shown in Case 10 in the old exhibits photos".
