Seaforth Afghanistan War Veterans' Kilt Apron
Kilt apron - WW II style, found in Seaforth Armoury and signed by Seaforth Afghanistan War veterans who served there in 2009 - 2010:
Pte. Benjamin Chau; Cpl. Kyle K.B. Yorston; Cpl. Andrew MacDonald; Cpl. Matt Swanston; Cpl. Trevor Street; Cpl. Joshua Muir; Cpl. Mark Sinclair; Cpl. Telford; Cpl. Belich, Cpl. Birkner; Cpl. Eugene Kowakzyk; Cpl. Michael Almeida; Cpl. Brett D. Tyre; Pte "Winkie" Winkler.
It was created at the request of Curator Colin Stevens. The signatures were gathered by MCpl Patrick Farrell who was an Afghan veteran (2006) as well as the Recruiting NCO in 2009 - 2010 and the RQMS from 2010 to 2016.
Kilt Aprons (covers) were worn by Highland regiments on active service. Not only did the apron protect the kilt but it also made the kilt less conspicous in the field. It is a brown canvas apron with tape tie in a seam at the top, a single button flap pocket in the centre (actng as a sporran).
