Gravestone of Pte C.C. Mattice, 72nd Bn CEF at Mountain View Cemetery
Gravestone of Pte C.C. Mattice, 72nd Battalion, CEF at Mountain View Cemetery, Vancouver in 1997. He died on 21 November 1964. On rear: "Mountain View 94".
2137714 Pte Charles Clifford Mattice arrived in France on 27 September 1918 and left on 2 February, 1919. Mattice originally enlisted in the 2nd Depot Battalion, BC Regiment in Victoria in 1917.
He was later discharged as medically unfit as having "mania" and "nervous debility (nervous breakdown)". He claimed to be an "Indian Medicine Man from Los Angeles". His next of kin lived in Los Angeles. It appears that he may have been suffering from Shell Shock or Battle Fatigue. CEF Service File attached.
