Bearskin Hat (Royal 22e Regiment)

Bearskin Hat (Royal 22e Regiment) with red hackle (plume) on the left side. It is noted as a "Feather bonnet in box" A bearskin is a tall fur cap, usually worn as part of a ceremonial military uniform. Traditionally, the bearskin was the headgear of grenadiers and it is still worn by grenadier and guards regiments in various armies. Since 1928, the ‘Van Doos’ have a full dress scarlet uniform with fusilier pattern bearskin cap which approximates that of their allied regiment in the British Army, the Royal Welsh Fusiliers.
