Postcard - "EXCUSE ME! YOU'R STANDING IN MY SHAVING WATER"

Colour WW I humourous cartoon postcards printed by the Regent Publishing Co. Ltd., London N.W. (ALL BRITISH). "EXCUSE ME! YOU'R STANDING IN MY SHAVING WATER". The card was Maurice's comic interpretation of a soldiers daily ablutions in water filled trenches and was 2569 in ‘The Regent Series’. On the rear in pencil: "Dear Nell I thought I would send them home as I cant keep them in my Bag if you can wear [sic] the jacket it would keep you warm from Abe hoping you will get it safe." Address: Mrs. Burman, Kamsack PO Sask Canada." This was a postcard written by Abram Charles (Abe) Burman to his wife Ellen [Mary Ann Ellen] Burman. CEF service file attached. Burman was born in England and had previously served in the Imperial Forces. He was originally posted to the 188th (Saskatchewan) Battalion, CEF. It appears that he survived the war (CWGC). The 188th (Saskatchewan) Battalion, CEF was a unit in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. Based in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, the unit began recruiting during the winter of 1915/16 throughout northern Saskatchewan. After sailing to England in October 1916, the battalion was absorbed into the 15th Reserve Battalion on January 4, 1917. The 188th (Saskatchewan) Battalion, CEF had one Officer Commanding, former RNWMP member Lieut-Col. Samuel James Donaldson (1856-1926). #288 Cst Donaldson served from 1876-1882 in Prince Albert, SK.
