Personal Diary (Journal) - Pte Torry Estabrook Purdy, # 1031320, 72nd Battalion, CEF.
It starts on 7 October 1917 when he leaves Montreal for France via England. It goes on until at least 27 October, 1918. He got to the end of the book and then started writing upside down making his way back to the beginning of the journal.
Attached is a note written by J. Symes on 26 September 2000 explaining the notebook.
He had originally enlisted with the 236th (McLean's Kilties) Battalion, CEF as he was originally from Amherst, Nova Scotia.
Purdy arrived in France on 8 March 1918. He was wounded on 30 March, 1918 and again on 11 August, 1918.
The artifact was loaned to the Museum. It was scanned and then returned to the donor.
