CF Garrison Jacket (Seaforth Sgt)

CF Camoflauged Army Garrison Jacket for a Seaforth Sergeant. Jacket, Garrison, Land. NSN: 8405-21-905-7206. The distinctive Garrison Dress jacket was also known as the "paint by numbers or Duck Hunter" jacket. It was a rather heavy, four colour camouflage polyester jacket and was not worn in the field. The reason behind issuing a camouflage jacket intended for wear solely in offices and in garrison occupied many hours of discussion in Junior Ranks Messes. Two patterns of trousers were worn with Garrison Dress, the Work Dress trousers or medium green Garrison Dress trousers. Depending on Unit Dress Orders, authorised footwear was either standard combat boots or the Garrison boot. Adopted in 1989, Garrison Dress was not worn in operational theatres and went out of wear in the mid 1990s. Special patterns of dull gold insignia were worn on Garrison Dress. Trade qualification badges were worn on the right lower sleeve, skill at arms badges are worn on the left sleeve. Parachutist's jump wings were worn above the left breast pocket. A black web belt with black plastic fittings and 1964 Pattern buckle or a regimental buckle was worn on top of the jacket. The tan summer shirt was worn with rank insignia on the collar points. Shell is 100% polyester, lining is 65% polyester and 35% cotton. Jacket has snap epaulets and snap cuffs, 4 snap closure pockets on the front, plastic zipper with snap flap over, drawstring waist and 2 velcro pockets inside, reinforced elbows. The Canadian forces only used this color camo for a few years so it is sought after by collectors worldwide.
