Seaforth vets & Jr. Officer by halftrack

Collection of various papers from Lt. (later Captain) Robert John MacDonald, CD. A poor black and white photocopy of Seaforth veterans and junior officers in front of and in a WW II American halftrack armoured vehicle. Lt. MacDonald is in the front to the right. One of the officers is playing the bagpipes. From Captain Rob MacDonald: Left to Right - Capt Allan MacLeod, Lieut MacDonald, Lieut Rob Roy MacKenzie, Lieut Brian Williamson (RIP) Rear- Capt Peter Watson (Adjutant) and Lt Col (QM) Charlie Millar, both 1st Battalion Queen's Own Highlanders. The White half-track was provided (and driven) by Don Robson. Messrs. Watson and Millar were on leave from the 1st Battalion, The Queen's Own Highlanders in Hong Kong and they visited us for a few days. We met them at the airport, collected their baggage and led them out the door to the taxi stand. One of us gave a shrill whistle and the ‘track came clattering up from where it had been hidden. We had put two of the Officer’s Mess couches in the back and then MCpl Maley (late QOHldrs) acted as our bar steward as we rumbled into town – I can’t remember if we took them to the Mess or to Allan’s house.
