Blair Range L.A. Competition Lewis Gun Team, 1932

Blair Range L.A. Competition. The photo shows a Lewis Gun Team, 1932. They are wearing kilts and glengarries. Between 1922 and 1968 the Blair Rifle Range (named for Lt Col R.M. Blair) was used by the Canadian government to detain unemployed men and for military training purposes. The site serves as a reminder of Canada’s experiences in the Great Depression of the 1930s and its legacy of activism, protest and the birth of national social programs. It also symbolizes the mobilization that occurred during World War II and the military presence in the Seymour (North Vancouver) area.
