FOUNDATIONS OF THE 72nd REGIMENT, 1910-1914
Fondation du 72e régiment, 1910-1914
72nd Regt, SH of C at 1st inspection, Cambie St Grounds, Vancouver
72nd Regiment, Seaforth Highlanders of Canada at their first annual inspection on the Cambie Street Grounds, Vancouver on 12 August, 1911. The photograph shows Lieutenant T.V. Scudmore, Major Rowland Brittain, Colonel Wadmore, Colonel Leckie, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Gilmore Edwards Leckie and others.
From the Regimental History (McEvoy), page 7:
"The first inspection of the regiment took place on August 1st of the same year [1911], the inspecting officer being Col. Wadmore, D. O. C., M. D. No. 11. The regiment paraded on the Cambie Street grounds, and the men made a fine appearance.
The D. O. C. put the regiment through a somewhat severe test in the various movements, most of which were excellently done. The marching of the regiment was especially remarked. Speaking of the inspection afterwards, Col. Wadmore said that he was highly pleased with the regiment and complimented Col. Leckie and the other officers on the high state of efficiency to which, in a comparatively short time, the regiment had been brought."
