72nd Regiment, Seaforth Highlanders assembled on steps of Elysium Hotel on Pender Street, Vancouver, 1913 (which was across the street from the 72nd Regiment Headquarters). Photograph shows soldiers (apparently all Senior NCOs) in full scarlet uniform, including Pipe Major John Gillies and Drum Major Pawsey at either end of the first row. RSM David Nelson is front and centre. The hotel was demolished in the 1970s and replaced by an office tower at 1130 West Pender Street, Vancouver. VANCOUVER ARCHIVES ITEM DETAILS PAGES ATTACHED
