Bandmaster Henry Slatter is in the front rank of the band to the left of the bass drum with his baton. Henry Arthur Slatter was the bandmaster of the 72nd Seaforth Highlanders from 1911-1914 and again from 1919-1925.
The Elysium Hotel opened on April Fools Day, 1911. The Elysium was a good building built in the wrong part of town. Located at 1140 West Pender, it was converted into suites by C.B.K. Van Norman in 1943 and renamed Park Plaza. The building was demolished in the 1970s and replaced by an office tower at 1130 West Pender Street, Vancouver.
