Duke of Connaught inspecting Guard of Honour at Courthouse, 18 Sept 1912
H.R.H. Duke of Connaught inspecting the Seaforth Guard of Honour at the Vancouver Courthouse, 18 Sept 1912. The troops are in full highland dress with feather bonnets, scarlet tunics and kilts. They are carrying Ross rifles at slope arms. Behind the Duke of Connught is believed to be Capt John Edwards Leckie, DSO. He is wearing the Distinguished Service Order awarded in South Africa along with his Queen's South Africa Medal.
Capt Leckie was the brother of Lt Col Robert Gilmour Leckie, CO of the 72nd Regiment.

He was then promoted Colonel and accepted an appointment in England in charge of a training Brigade in November 1916. He reverted to the rank of Lieut.·Col. and proceeded to Russia in September, 1918. He was promoted to Colonel (again) in 1919.
During WW I he was awarded the Companion of St Michael and St George (C.M.G.), the Commander of the British Empire (C.B.E.), the Cross of St. Vladimir (with swords), the French Croix de Guerre (with palms) and he was Mentioned in Despatches.
