Prince of Wales reviews the Seaforths at the CPR Station, Vancouver, 1927

HRH The Prince of Wales reviews the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada at the Canadian Pacific Railway Station, Vancouver, 18 August, 1927 From the Regimental History, page xix: "When the Prince of Wales visited Vancouver in 1927 it was most significant that he landed in Quebec wearing the uniform of a Seaforth Highlander. This was a unique compliment to this Regiment as royalty normally wore naval uniform or the uniform of a Guards' regiment when entering one of the Dominions. He visited Vancouver on the 17th and 18th of August, 1927. The Regiment supplied a Guard of Honour of 3 officers, 100 O.R.'s and Pipe Band, in pre-war Review Order, with the King's Colour. Captain J. Duns, M.M. commanded the Guard with Lieut. J. M. S. Tait as Subaltern, and Lieut. E. D. Woodburn carrying the Colour. Following the royal salute the guard was inspected by His Royal Highness accompanied by the Guard Commander and Lt-Col. A. D. Wilson, D.S.O., V.D.On the evening of the 17th of August, Maj-Gen. J. W. Stewart gave a dinner at his home in honour of the Prince of Wales and His Royal Highness Prince George (afterwards George VI). On the same evening the officers of the Regiment gave a ball at the Hotel Georgia, a newly constructed hotel, in honour of His Royal Highness". VANCOUVER ARCHIVES ITEM DETAILS PAGES ATTACHED
