Parade for Lt Col Blair upon winning the King's Prize at Bisley, 1929
Parade for Lt. Col. R.M. Blair, Commanding Officer, Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, upon winning the King's Prize at Bisley, England for being the top rifleman in the British Empire, 25 August, 1929.
Lt. Col. Blair inspecting the Seaforth Guard on the Cambie Grounds with BGen Clark, a policeman and a civilian.
From the Regimental History, page 30:
"Lt-Col. R. M. Blair made history at Bisley by being the first man in seventy years to win both the King's Prize and the Grand Aggregate. The regiment, the city, indeed all Canadians were tremendously proud of his accomplishment and on his return in August he was given a huge welcome. Later that day a civic banquet was given in his honour followed by a dance given by the regiment. Special permission was given for the free issue to the Seaforth Officers' Mess of the rifle with which he won the Bisley match, and the new rifle range was named in his honour the following year. It was a glorious welcome home for a greatly admired officer."
