Seaforth Armoury under construction at 1650 Burrard St, Vancouver, 21 Oct, 1935
The Seaforth Armoury under construction Burrard Street at the south end of the Burrard Street Bridge at1650 Burrard Street, Vancouver, 21 October, 1935. The photograph also shows the Henry Hudson School at 1551 Cypress Street.
The Burrard Bridge (sometimes referred to as the Burrard Street Bridge) is a five-lane, Art Deco style, steel truss bridge constructed in 1930-1932 in Vancouver. The high, five part bridge on four piers spans False Creek, connecting downtown Vancouver with Kitsilano via connections to Burrard Street on both ends.
The Burrard Bridge, opened July 1, 1932, was built to provide a high-level crossing from Vancouver to the southwestern neighbourhoods in Kitsilano, by connecting Burrard Street to Cedar Street. After completion, Burrard was extended through to the base of downtown and Cedar Street disappeared.
