SICILY, JULY 1943 - SEPT 1943
SICILE, JUILLET 1943 - SEPTEMBRE 1943
Pte R.E. Hill repairing his Universal Carrier, Catania, Sicily, 22 August 1943
Private R.E. Hill repairing his Universal Carrier, Catania, Italy [sic Sicily], 22 August 1943. He is not in the regimental history nominal roll. He is most likely a mechanic from the RCEME.
Pte. Hill possibly (but not likely) of the Seaforth Highlanders, 2nd Canadian Infantry Brigade. The Seaforth Highlanders held a reunion with the 2nd, 5th, and 6th Seaforth Units of the U.K. on the 25th of August at Catania. Pte Hill is not believed to be a Seaforth but a soldier of the 2nd Canadian Infantry Brigade nevertheless.
The "64" vehicle marking, means it is not a Seaforth vehicle as their number was "61". The vehicle belonged to the 2 Canadian Infantry Brigade Support Group.
