Brass Button card (stick)

Brass Button card (stick) for polishing buttons on a uniform. One side is marked: "R D /I\". The other side is stamped: "C.C.B.". A button stick is a strip of metal or wood slotted in such a way that it will pass over a row of buttons (as on a military tunic) allowing each button to appear through a slit so that the buttons may be polished without soiling the cloth. They were no longer used when buttons were no longer made of brass or silver.
