Letter from William Rae to A.D. Wilson regarding Edward, The Prince of Wales, dated 1 Dec. 1927
Fourth handwritten letter from a series of 4 letters from former 72nd Regiment and 16th Battalion, CEF officer Captain William Rae to Major A.D. Wilson, DSO regarding his news about Edward, The Prince of Wales in London, England dated 1 December 1927.
Rae writes about a photograph of the Canadian Seaforths that was taken when the Prince was in Vancouver in September 1927
The two other letters to Wilson are from 23 September 1927 and 22 November 1927 were written by Rae on Caledonian Club, St. James's Square, S.W. 1 [London] stationary.
The Caledonian Club is a private club founded in 1891. It is now located at 9 Halkin Street SW1, near Belgrave Square, Belgravia, London. The Caledonian Club as it is today was formed in 1917 under the leadership of the Marquis Tullibardine. He appealed to Members to make it "the representative national club and headquarters for Scotsmen in London" and today full membership is open to ladies as well as to those having 'close association' with Scotland for example by being born in Scotland, educated in Scotland or having direct Scottish descent. The Club moved from St James's during World War II. The current clubhouse in Halkin Street opened in October 1946.
Lt-Col. A. D. Wilson, DSO was the Commanding Officer from 1 August 1924 to 1 May1928.
