HOME FRONT, 1914 - 1919

FRONT INTÉRIEUR, 1914 - 1919

Letter from Pte W.A. Green, 5th Bn to Mrs. A.B. De Long thanking her for a care parcel dated 15 Dec, 1918.

Letter from Canadian soldier Pte W.A. Green, 5th (Western Cavalry) Battalion CEF to Mrs. A.B. De Long thanking her for a care parcel. The letter is dated 15 December, 1918. On the side of the envelope, is written "R. Lingford" which may be 12641 Captain R. Lingford. It was written from Oberth, Germany which describes the civilian state of Germany and their march over the Rhine. Inside the envelope was a German 50 Pfenig note. Mrs. De Long organized and forwarded parcels to CEF troops who were serving overseas. The letters in this collection date from late 1918 and early 1919. They are thank you letters to her. It appears that all of the recipients lived or still had family in the North Burnaby area.
