Soldiers of the 16th Battalion embarking on the HMTS Andania at Quebec City on 28 September, 1914. There was a total of 80 Officers and 1,800 Other ranks on the troop ship. The complete 16th Battalion consisting of 47 Officers and 1,111 Other Ranks was on board. The 14th Battalion - Royal Montreal Regiment was divided between the Andania and the Alaunia. On the Andania were Number 4, 5 and 6 Companies under the charge of Lt.-Col. Burland. There were 20 Officers, 529 Other Ranks and 11 Horsed Vehicles.
