16e BATAILLON CEF, LE CANADIEN ÉCOSSAIS
16th Bn soldiers amusing themselves on deck on SS Andania, Oct 1914
Soldiers of the 16th Battalion in October, 1914 amusing themselves with horseplay on the deck of the SS Andania. On the backs of two soldiers are written "Me" [believed to be Marshall Beck' and "B.O." [believed to be Burchell Ogilvie Oughton]. Beck and Oughton were both in "E" Company under ther command of Captain C.M. Merritt at ths time.
The soldiers on the sidelines may be from the 14th (Royal Montreal Regt) Battalion, CEF who were also on the ship.
CEF Service file of Burchell Oughton [not Oughten] attached.
This photo is from the album of Marshall Beck.
