Plaque - Cdn Engineer Badges & D-Day Plaque
Plaque - Corps of Canadian Engineers Badges (hat, collar and shoulder titles). There is a bronze plaque showing an engineer detecting mines. This plaque belonged to Lt Col Baylis' father, Arthur Baylis who served in WW I and WW II. Attached is his CEF service file.
D-Day Plaque:
From Sgt Mike Scoretz: "The small figure with a mine detector is unique. After the 2nd War they commissioned a giant plaque with that image, and then made smaller ones for each veteran who had landed at D Day with the unit or who had served from then until Germany. They were the "coins" of the day."
Cap badges (left to right):
1. Canadian Engineers, 1903-1932 (Brass)
2. Royal Canadian Engineers (George VI), 1937-1953 (Brass)
3. Royal Canadian Engineers (Queen Elizabeth II), 1953-1973 (Bi-Metal)
4. Canadian Military Engineers, 1973-2017 (Enamel)
This plaque was handed over to Sgt Michael Scoretz, 39 CER by David Strachan on 11 September 2018 to be donated to the 39 CER museum in North Vancouver.
