16th BATTALION CEF, THE CANADIAN SCOTTISH

16e BATAILLON CEF, LE CANADIEN ÉCOSSAIS

Unknown Game in brass cylinder (16th Bn CEF)

Unknown game (Possibly "Put in Take ..." in a brass cylinder. The lid is a 16th (Canadian Scottish) Battalion, CEF button and the bottom is a French coin, circa 1917. Inside the lid: "J.B.W. / CAMBRAI / 1917" Inside the cylinder are two dice, six ivory disks (1/4D, 1/2D, 1D, 2D, 3D, 6D) and an unknown lead weight with the inscriptions - AP, T2, P1, TA, T1, P2. This game possibly was made and belonged to 736348 Pte John Bowie Whyte who served in the 16th Battalion, CEF from 20 October 1916 to 26 March 1919. It is very likely that he served in the 16th during the Battle of Cambrai, 1917. CONFIRM GAME AND "J.B.W."
