Seaforth Maxim Gun on a wheeled carriage, June 1913

Seaforth Maxim Gun on a wheeled carriage on Vancouver Island. Lieutenant Colonel Robert Gilmour Edwards Leckie with binoculars. Note on the matting reads, "Maxim Gun section in action at manouvers, Vancouver Island, BC, 1913, 72nd Seaforth Highalnders of Canada." Note on matting indicates "Corporal...[illegible]" for soldier with right arm on carriage wheel. There are several notes on the rear of the photo. Three contemporary notes read: "Worse photos were snapshoted"; "This gun fires 450 rounds per minute, the barrel of the gun is covered with a water jacket, which after 400 rounds, the water is boiling. The gun only came through from England about 2 months ago" ; and " will send another one, with the limber attached, and ready for the march."
